NFL Draft Analyst Discusses Travis Hunter's Fit With Patriots

The New England Patriots struggled mightily in 2024, finishing with a record of 4-13. They had one of the worst passing attacks in the league as they ranked 30th in scoring offense, 31st in total yards, 31st in passing touchdowns and 32nd in passing yards.

While many expected the Patriots to add a big-name wide receiver via free agency or trade, Mack Hollins has been their only addition at the position thus far. Daniel Jeremiah recently suggested that New England should target Travis Hunter with the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, the NFL Network draft analyst stated:

I would. I think he’s dynamic. I think he’d be their most dynamic weapon on offense and I think they would have a lot of fun. Watching those two guys at quarterback and receiver, kind of grow up together, I would be excited about that if I were a Patriots fan and somehow Travis Hunter would be there.

Jeremiah noted that he would be interested in seeing how the Patriots announce the selection due to Hunter’s ability to play on both sides of the ball. The former Colorado Buffaloes star won the Heisman Trophy in 2024 after recording 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns, adding one rushing touchdown.

Teams hardly target Hunter’s side of the field on the defensive side. He finished with 32 total tackles, 21 of which were solo tackles, one tackle for loss, four interceptions, one game-winning forced fumble, and 11 passes defended. The two-way star has expressed interest in playing both wide receiver and cornerback at the NFL level.
