One of the few positions that the Green Bay Packers entered the offseason needing to upgrade but have struggled to, just might hold the key to adding a dynamic playmaker.
Even starting running back Josh Jacobs suggested leading up to the Super Bowl that the Packers lack a true difference-making No. 1 wide receiver, but, Green Bay has missed out on the likes of DK Metcalf and Cooper Kupp in free agency and on the trade market this month.
Perhaps, though, general manager Brian Gutekunst and the Packers could move off one of Green Bay’s homegrown talents at the position to acquire the draft capital for an upgrade.
Could the Green Bay Packers trade Romeo Doubs?

After the Packers’ receiving corps underachived in 2024, Romeo Doubs could prove to be Green Bay’s most valuable trade asset to set the stage for the position group to break out in 2025.
“Watson may have the most upside of the bunch, but a torn ACL suffered late in the year would reduce his trade value,” Pro Football Focus’ Bradley Locker wrote, suggesting Doubs is the Packers’ most valuable trade asset. “At the same time, Doubs has been effective in the past two years, ranking second on the team with a 75.0 PFF receiving grade and leading the way with 83 first downs picked up.
“The bottom line is that Green Bay probably will not re-sign both Watson and Doubs next offseason, and the latter could net more capital right now.”
Locker’s suggestion is certainly outside the box, but, if the Packers believe that there is a game-altering talent who could step in as a top-of-the-depth-chart perimeter weapon for quarterback Jordan Love, who is an upgrade over Doubs, packaging the 24-year-old with the No. 23 overall pick could be the ammunition to make a move up the board.
Through his first three seasons, Doubs has caught 147 passes for 1,700 yards with 15 touchdowns, while averaging 11.6 yards per reception.
However, for the right prospect on the board and the right team valuing Doubs, he could catch his next pass elsewhere.
