Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is coming off a horrible Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, in which his offensive line was torn to shreds.
For some, the manner in which the Chiefs lost is a cause for concern and is even a reason why some are jumping off the bandwagon, despite the franchise just one game ago looking like the best dynasty in NFL history.
But that is what one horrible loss can do, and when it comes to Mahomes, despite the loss, he still has credits in the bank to think he’ll bounce back in 2025.
However, not all are of that opinion, and when it comes to high-pressure situations, Mahomes has been better than most since becoming the starter, getting to at least the AFC Championship game every year while winning three Super Bowls.
For CBS Sports, when looking at five quarterbacks who are under pressure to win the Super Bowl in 2025, Mahomes doesn’t make the list.
The names listed are Joe Burrow (5), Jared Goff (4), Dak Prescott (3), Lamar Jackson (2), and Josh Allen (1).
Now there is a case to be made that Mahomes, after the Super Bowl loss, might be under a little “pressure” to get revenge for it, but in truth, given the credits in the bank, and the fact that he’s already won three while all others on the list above have none, it is easy to see why Patrick isn’t on the list.
But there will be pressure on Mahomes, just a different sort from those five mentioned. The Chiefs will fight against the tide as their period of dominance appears to be ending.
However, we won’t write off the franchise that won back-to-back Super Bowls and made it to a third after one poor game. Yes, there is no “Super Bowl” pressure on Mahomes, but he’s under pressure to show that this Kansas City team still has life in it to make another concerted push for glory.
