The Cincinnati Bengals have been in dire need of offensive line talent and this draft provides so many opportunities for upgrades. One of the best options? Clay Webb.
Webb is projected to go very late in the draft, allowing the Bengals to take advantage even more. Let’s take a look at how well Clay Webb would fit in Cincinnati.
Why Should the Bengals Draft Clay Webb?
Three years of great production is exactly what you want to see from a smaller school player. While Webb is graduating from Jax State, he was once a super high recruit and committed to Georgia before transferring out. Webb has posted an overall PFF grade of 82, 87, and 80 across the last three years, allowing one sack in each season. In 2024 he posted an above-average pass block grade of 72.7 and a great run blocking grade of 82.7. Having a guy be a great run blocker on your Offensive Line is a NEED in today’s NFL.
Why Should They AVOID Him?
Webb was great in the run game and struggled from time to time in the passing game, being at a smaller school some organizations will amplify those struggles even more due to the level of talent.
How Does He Fit in Cincinnati?
Left guard has been an issue for the Bengals for FAR too long. Clay Webb has the ability to come in and provide an instant impact. Not only is he just an upgrade there he will also help the Bengals run the football more effectively due to his great run-blocking skills. Clay Webb simply fills a number of bigger and smaller needs on this team. If the Bengals do not turn to him in 2025 he has the potential to anchor the offensive line in 2026 and beyond.
