BREAKING : Packers can erase potential target from draft board after Pro Day disaster

2025 NFL Scouting Combine

The Green Bay Packers have strict guidelines in the NFL Draft, especially at wide receiver.

Green Bay will likely draft at least one receiver, even after signing Mecole Hardman. The team had rumored interest in Cooper Kupp, who signed with the Seattle Seahawks, and they could revisit the position in the draft.

The Packers value athleticism and production while typically adhering to predictable size thresholds. They occasionally go against those tendencies, as they did to draft Jayden Reed, but he only slightly missed. It wasn’t a giant leap from their preferences.

Miami’s Xavier Restrepo is one of many wide receivers the Packers could target on Day 2 of next month’s draft.

At 5-foot-10 and 209 pounds, Restrepo barely misses their size thresholds, but that’s OK if he checked every other box. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. After a disappointing pro day, the Miami receiver didn’t just likely tank his draft stock with the Packers but probably removed himself from their board.

Xavier Restrepo’s slow 40-yard dash time may have ended any hopes of Packers drafting him

There were already a few factors working against Restrepo. He is likely a slot-only receiver, where Jayden Reed plays most of his snaps. However, the college production was there, and Restrepo could’ve put himself in the mix with a strong offseason process.

Unfortunately, he posted disappointing 40 times at his pro day. While there are no official numbers, many in attendance timed his runs around 4.76 seconds or slower.

Kent Lee Platte factored in an unofficial 4.83-second time to calculate Restrepo’s Relative Athletic Score, which falls to a disappointing 2.90 out of 10. Again, it’s unofficial but concerning.

Restrepo can play. He posted consecutive 1,000-yard seasons for Miami, including a 69-catch, 1,172-yard, 11-touchdown year in 2024. He will likely get drafted and have a shot to prove himself in the NFL, but it’s hard to envision the Packers making that move.

He (barely) doesn’t meet their usual size thresholds, and his inability to play on the boundary also hurts his chances of landing in Green Bay. A slow 40 time likely ends the conversation.

The Miami receiver is a talented player and should get an opportunity somewhere in the NFL, but the Packers’ strict guidelines at the position probably take him off their draft board.
