The Kansas City Chiefs fell short of making NFL history when they lost Super Bowl LIX to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year. Had they won, they would have become the first team in the Super Bowl Era to win three consecutive titles. As it stands, the Green Bay Packers are the only team in NFL history to win three championships in a row, having done so in 1929-1931 and 1965-1967.

Of course, one of the traditions surrounding winning the Super Bowl is the victorious team visiting the White House during the offseason to celebrate their triumph with the President of the United States. Following each of their previous two Super Bowl wins, the Chiefs did just that, celebrating with former President Joe Biden.

However, when they won it all back in 2020, they did not visit with President Donald Trump due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Later this year, the victorious Eagles will visit the White House to celebrate their victory in Super Bowl LIX with President Trump. Despite previous reports that they would decline the invitation, the organization was adamant that they would happily visit with the President.

As it turns out, the Chiefs will also get that opportunity.

According to a report by CNN, President Trump is planning to host Kansas City to celebrate their Super Bowl victory in 2020 because the pandemic kept them from visiting him then:

“I look forward to having the (Philadelphia) Eagles (for winning Super Bowl LIX in February). And one other thing, we’re going to have the Kansas City Chiefs after that, because they missed their turn because of Covid.”

It is interesting that there will be two NFL teams visiting Trump at the White House this year. During his first term in office, multiple Championship teams across the sporting world, including the Eagles, declined his invitation to the White House, which created controversy at the time.

Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was an outspoken supporter of President Trump leading up to the election in November. Tight end Travis Kelce has said multiple times that he will visit the White House no matter who the President is because doing so is an honor.
