Sobering Punting Stat Shows Just How Bad Cleveland Browns Offense Has Been In 2024

A Cleveland Browns season that started with high hopes is essentially over by the midway point of the season. Much of the reason why this season turned into a total disaster is because of a really poor offense.

Just how bad has the offense in Cleveland been? Their punter, Corey Bojorquez, has more punting yards than the team has total yards through nine games.

That’s a pretty sobering stat just looking at it at first glance. Obviously, all punters end up punting for a lot of yards as the season goes on, since every punt is going to be, on average, around 45 yards. But, Bojorquez is way out in front of the rest of the league. He has 2,600 yards. Second place in total punting yards is at 2,256. His 50 punts are five more than the next highest total, which belongs to Bryce Baringer of the Patriots. Baringer is also second in yards.

50 punts through nine games (5.55 per game) is way too high of a number through nine games. For comparison, the Washington Commanders have only punted nineteen times this season. That’s less than 40% of the total punts the Browns have.

Analyst Discloses Two Alarming Stats For Cleveland Browns

The rest of the offensive stats for the Browns don’t paint a much better picture. Cleveland is 31st in total yards at just 274 per game. That number was even lower before oft-criticized quarterback Deshaun Watson was injured in Week 7 and replaced by Jameis Winston. They rank 28th in total passing and 28th in total rushing. Scoring-wise, they come in at 28th, as well.

What’s most concerning is probably their poor rushing totals. The Browns are built around running the football and should have one of the better offensive lines in football. Yes, Nick Chubb missed all but the last two games with a knee injury he suffered last year, and the passing attack hasn’t scared anyone. But, they should be running the ball better than they are. The Cleveland Browns are built on running the football, it’s a specialty of head coach Kevin Stefanski, and they’re simply not good at it.

Ultimately, the Browns need to figure out something on offense going forward. This year has been a lost cause on that side of the ball.
