Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was in the headlines after the Super Bowl loss, with many thinking the veteran might choose retirement.
After the blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, some thought Kelce was finished. Considering his relationship with Taylor Swift – and their bright future together – it made sense for the future Hall of Famer to walk off into the sunset.
But then came the news that Kelce would be returning for a 13th season, and some thought that the manner in which he and the Chiefs played in the Super Bowl was the reason for his return.
And those people would be half-right.
Now we know more about the influences … and we know more about the pop star’s plan to be in attendance as her sweetheart’s games in 2025.
Sources are telling Page Six that Swift will “of course” be cheering on Kelce inside Arrowhead Stadium for the upcoming year.
And we would add that assuming that security is in place, she’ll do the same when the Chiefs are on the road as well.
Travis wants her there. And Taylor wants him to play, of course, if he wishes.
That was an influence in all of this. And …
Receiver Rashee Rice has revealed that he is largely responsible for Kelce returning in 2025, too.
“I ain’t even gonna lie, I’m 95 percent the reason he ain’t retiring,” Rice said on REVOLT Sports. “[I] Told him he can’t go out like that, make sure we get that next year. I’m pretty sure he was hanging it up, and I’m like, we can’t go out like that. We gotta go win that [Super Bowl], I’m going to make sure we win that, that’s what I told him.”
So Rice, who only played a handful of games in 2024 due to injury, will be back, and so will Kelce, along with new signing Elijah Mitchell and free agent Kareem Hunt, and suddenly, the Chiefs look solid on offense … all led by Patrick Mahomes, of course.
The gang is coming back.
Oh, and so is Taylor Swift.
