The Detroit Lions continued to bolster their secondary on Thursday, re-signing cornerback Khalil Dorsey.

Dorsey’s signing came just hours after the team added veteran free agent cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, who last played for the San Francisco 49ers.

After stints with the Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants, Dorsey, 26, has found a home in Detroit. While contributing as a dependable cornerback in the Lions’ rotation, he is best known for his impact on special teams.

During the 2023 season, Dorsey played 248 snaps on special teams across 13 games. His contributions grew last season, logging a career-high 73 snaps on defense and 272 on special teams. He finished the year with 14 tackles and two passes defended. Dorsey also returned four kicks for 159 yards.

Unfortunately for Dorsey — and the Lions — his 2024 campaign was cut short by injury. During a Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills, he suffered a season-ending ankle injury severe enough to require a cart off the field.

With the additions of Dorsey and Ya-Sin, the Lions now have seven cornerbacks under contract, including new signee D.J. Reed, along with Terrion Arnold, Ennis Rakestraw, Amik Robertson, and Stantley Thomas-Oliver.
