The Kansas City Chiefs are going to look like a very different team in 2025. They’ve brought in a few new faces and have decided to part ways with a few others.
One of the key players they lost in free agency is defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, who is now taking his talents to the New York Jets after signing a one-year deal with the AFC East side.
The Chiefs took to Instagram on Wednesday to bid farewell to Nnadi, who has spent his entire seven-year career in Kansas City.
“A champion forever. Thank you for everything, @dnnadi ” the Chiefs posted.
Unsurprisingly, supporters could not help but get emotional after seeing the team’s parting message for Nnadi.
“So sad he’s leaving the city. What a great guy. True representative of all the dog lovers here in KCMO,” a comment on Instagram read.
“Why couldn’t we just resign him ” asked another.
“” posted a supporter.
“This really hurts,” declared a user.
“Someone explain to me why ” demanded another.
“Always a chief baby,” said a reaction.
Nnadi first joined the Chiefs as the team’s third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The former Florida State standout has since played 115 games for the squad in seven seasons, registering 109 solo tackles and 124 assisted tackles during that span.
The 28-year-old DT now joins the Jets and their revamped defensive line as New York looks to make some noise in the AFC in 2025.
