BREAKING : Cowboys predicted to acquire 1,183-yard weapon to pair with CeeDee Lamb

Cowboys predicted to acquire 1,183-yard weapon to pair with CeeDee Lamb image

CeeDee Lamb is phenomenal, but the Dallas Cowboys need more than just one reliable option in the passing game.

We saw in 2024 that if Lamb isn’t putting up 1,500-plus yards, this Cowboys offense is below average. And Dallas shouldn’t be counting on Jalen Tolbert or Jake Ferguson to suddenly step up and fix the problem.

Seeing as free agency has mostly passed the Cowboys over, and especially in light of the $34 million per year Lamb got with his last contract, it seems wise to count on the Cowboys going after receiving help in the NFL Draft.

But could Dallas wait until the second round and still secure a viable number-two option behind Lamb? One NFL writer thinks so.

On Monday, Mark Heaney of Inside the Star projected that the Cowboys would pass on receivers in the first round and draft Iowa State’s Jayden Higgins with their second-round pick, number 44 overall.

“If you’ve been paying attention to the Cowboys free agency class, you’ve surely noticed the lack of wide receiver help. Aside from Parris Campbell, who may not even make the 53-man roster, Dallas has not patched up one of their biggest weaknesses,” Heaney wrote.

“This means they are likely to fill the need in the draft, and Iowa State’s Jayden Higgins is the perfect second-round option… At 6’4″ with a 39″ vertical, Higgins projects as a big red-zone target for the Cowboys offense.”

Higgins, 22, just put up one of the greatest wide receiver seasons in his school’s history, totaling 87 catches for 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games. He was a third-team All-American and second-team All-Big 12 performer.

In an offense where he wouldn’t draw many double teams, Higgins could be a major contributor right off the bat. If the Cowboys are able to wait on him until pick 44, they have to consider it a win.
