NHL insider Frank Servalli was very direct spoke about the 10 minute misconduct penalty that Connor Bedard received.
He said, “He (Connor Bedard) needs to be smarter, and he needs to keep his emotions in check better. This is not the first time he’s been captured yapping. And if you’re trying to get more calls, constantly chirping isn’t necessarily going to be the way to do it.”
NHL insider Frank Servalli added, “Like be smarter and you’re going head to head too against the guy that was picked against pick number one overall the year after you.”
NHL insider Frank Servalli also highlighted that the Chicago Blackhawks’ Connor Bedard needs to understand that there should be a better way to “harness” the extra emotion that he must have felt during that time.
In videos that have now gone viral, Connor Bedard was seen on the bench with a teammate. Suddenly, referee Chris Rooney was seen approaching him and the two indulged in a short conversation. It is not known what the two spoke about but just a few seconds after Chris Rooney left, Connor Bedard received the 10 minute misconduct penalty for “abuse of officials”.
Connor Bedard looked absolutely confused at this reaction and even fans are confused as to what really happened.
In a post game interview, Connor Bedard opened up about it and said that it was not “too crazy” and it was not something he was expecting but he is aware that the ref “gets to make the call”.
Many fans have slammed the NHL for “targetting” Connor Bedard but he has not hinted anything towards that.
