Remaining free agents still offer intriguing upside to address key areas and make a real impact on the Packers’ roster in 2025

Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu (90) warms up before Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs at Caesars Superdome.

The Green Bay Packers made two big moves on Monday, agreeing to sign guard Aaron Banks and cornerback Nate Hobbs. On Tuesday and Wednesday, though, no new moves. And that’s been pretty much Brian Gutekunst’s modus operandi as a general manager.

In free agency, he goes big or goes home. After the first wave, he waits for the mid-level class to sign, and then might make some more moves for something close to the minimum.

But even after three days of free agency, there are still really good options available. Not stars, but contributors who could have real impact in areas of need for Green Bay.

Edge rushers

This is the main position where the Packers were expected to add pieces and didn’t. Their potential targets are already off the board with Dayo Odeyingbo going to the Chicago Bears and Chase Young staying in New Orleans. Trey Hendrickson via trade is out of their way of doing business, so the options are limited.

Charles Omenihu is the best fit for what they tend to look for. But if the price is right, players like Azeez Ojulari or Dante Fowler could be added. Za’Darius Smith would be intriguing, but his relationship with the leaders on the Packers make a reunion very unlikely.
