BREAKING : πŸ”₯ Chiefs Secure Reliable Linebacker for Another Shot at Glory! πŸ† | What Impact Will This Move Have? πŸ€”πŸ‘€

Kansas City Chiefs v Las Vegas Raiders

There’s no denying that Cole Christiansen has earned the trust of Chiefs’ coaches.

Despite being a fringe roster player who has been waived and activated, promoted and demoted, time and again over the last three seasons, Christiansen has been a consistent presence on Kansas City’s transaction wire. In short, the Chiefs like having the linebacker around since giving him a chance back in 2022 and they’re apparently going to do so again in 2025.

The Chiefs officially re-signed Christiansen on Tuesday, which means the special teamer will try his hand at making the team (or practice squad) for a fourth season.

The Chiefs felt inclined to bring back Cole Christiansen for a fourth season with the team.

Christiansen came to the NFL as a tackling machine (275 in his career) for the Army Knights from 2016-19. From there, the Los Angeles Chargers brought him in as an undrafted free agent and he even made the active roster for a few games during his rookie campaign while spending most of his time on the team’s practice squad.

The Chargers would eventually cut ties with Christiansen over two years later, as he failed to make the active roster in 2022. That’s when the Chiefs stepped in and he’s been in and around Arrowhead ever since.

While Christiansen has never taken a single defensive snap for the Chiefs, he’s been an important contributor on special teams and played in a career-high 9 games in 2024. He played in 141 special teams snaps for Dave Toub’s units, and it stands to reason that Toub asked for him back to compete for another year.

Christiansen faces an uphill climb to make the active roster for the Chiefs at this point, but he’s heard all of this before. Give a guy credit for making it into his sixth season in professional football after going undrafted in the first place.
