BREAKING NEWS : Cowboys Sign Potential Starting DB To Cheap Deal

J.J. Watt Sends Cowboys Stern Warning on New Deal for Micah Parsons - Athlon Sports

Dallas Cowboys fans await a true “all-in” approach to Jerry Jones’ roster-building in 2025.

Two players who did not have to wait this offseason are Osa Odighizuwa and Markquese Bell, who signed extensions. The former signed a four-year $80 million contract extension earlier this month.

On Sunday night, Bell signed a deal extending his contract by three additional years for a so-called “max value” $12 million.

This is not bad for a player who went undrafted in 2022 and made the team as a free agent out of school. Bell started as a key component of the special teams units before finding his way into the secondary. … and is viewed inside The Star as someone with starter potential at safety.

In fact, it’s a bit more cheap than what could’ve been, as Bell was a restricted free agent and therefore could’ve been tendered and retained at $3.2 million for one year.

During his sophomore season in Dallas, he played in all 17 games, with eight starts. He was used as a safety in some instances and as a linebacker-safety in others. In the 2023 season he was credited with 94 tackles and two forced fumbles

Dallas this offseason has also restructured some contracts such as those of CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott. And then there is the avalanche of money they are going to end up giving edge rusher Micah Parsons once his deal is finalized. … all part of a busy start to free agency.
