BREAKING NEWS : 7 Speedy Free Agent Wide Receivers Packers Can Sign as Christian Watson Replacement

New Orleans Saints v Green Bay Packers

March 2025 is here, and the Green Bay Packers are sweating bullets. Free agency kicks off with a tampering window on March 10, then goes full throttle on March 12.

Christian Watson’s torn ACL in the season finale is leaving the Packers feeling exposed, as he’ll need most of the 2025 NFL season to recover.

General manager Brian Gutekunst has roughly $24 million to juggle in spendable salary cap space, and he needs a speed freak to bolt downfield, stretch defenses thin, and give Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, and Dontayvion Wicks room to breathe underneath.

The wide receiver class doesn’t contain an elite playmaker anymore. Therefore, Green Bay may need to bargain shop.

These seven free-agent burners could be the spark Jordan Love needs to keep Lambeau jumping and Green Bay’s Super Bowl hopes alive. Let’s dive into the fast lane.

Marquise “Hollywood” Brown

Speed Stat: 4.27 40-yard dash in 2019

Marquise Brown’s a jitterbug with a 4.27 40—faster than my children dodging chores. A busted collarbone tanked his Chiefs gig in 2024, but at 28, he could still have enough left in the tank.

He’s averaged 11.6 yards per catch throughout his career, screaming deep trouble for defenses—exactly what Love needs to uncork bombs. His legs would drag safeties to the parking lot, leaving Reed and Doubs munching short stuff over the middle of the field.

He’s not exactly Watson’s twin, but his zip could keep the Packers’ attack screaming down the highway. A one-year deal probably wouldn’t cut it for Brown, but a two-year deal could be a sweet spot for both sides.

Darius Slayton

Speed Stat: 4.39 40-yard dash in 2019

Darius Slayton is a Giants cast-off with a 4.39 40—think of him as a discount Ferrari. In six years in the NFL, he’s averaged 15 yards a catch, and he’s still got tread on the tires at 28.

The Packers need a greyhound to mimic Watson’s missed speed and Slayton’s that guy. He’ll bolt deep, make corners sweat, and crack open underneath lanes for Wicks and Luke Musgrave to gobble yards like it’s Thanksgiving.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Speed Stat: 4.37 40-yard dash in 2018

Marquez Valdes-Scantling—MVS to the faithful—rocks a 4.37 40 and a Packers tattoo on his heart (maybe).

Since departing Green Bay, he’s bounced from Kansas City to Buffalo to New Orleans, but that 17.4 yards per reception career clip says he’s still a big-play bandit.

His hands are as spotty as a thrift-store sweater. Doesn’t matter—Green Bay wants his wheels to blaze past coverage, pulling eyes deep so others can scoot underneath like kids sneaking candy.

MVS knows the turf, thrives in the frost, and could waltz back on a dime. He’s the nostalgia sprinter who’d keep Love’s deep game galloping.

Dyami Brown

Speed Stat: 4.45 40-yard dash in 2021

Dyami Brown isn’t a household name, but he can put up yards in a hurry. He showed out in the playoffs, posting 14 receptions, 229 yards, and one touchdown in Washington’s postseason run.

The Commanders barely used him in the regular season, but the Packers could uncage this colt and let him complement their other receivers perfectly. His market will be interesting to watch after a breakout postseason, but he shouldn’t come anywhere close to breaking the bank.

Elijah Moore

Speed Stat: 4.35 40-yard dash in 2021

Elijah Moore’s a 4.35 enigma—wasted in Cleveland like a snowblower in July. His 10.8 yard per reception average hints at horsepower, and at 24, he’s got legs to spare.

Green Bay could scoop him cheap, let him dart deep, and watch DBs panic as Reed and Doubs feast on the scraps below. This may be the ultimate reclamation project for the former 24th overall pick.

Rondale Moore

Speed Stat: 4.29 40-yard dash in 2021

On a list full of speedy receivers, Rondale Moore posted the second-fastest 40-yard-dash time of this group at 4.29 seconds, second only to Brown.

He suffered a season-ending knee injury in practice at the beginning of August and would need a full medical check-up before the Packers feel comfortable proceeding with him. However, he’s another gadget player who could open up the field for the entire Green Bay offense.

KaVontae Turpin

Speed Stat: 4.31 40-yard dash in 2019

KaVontae Turpin’s a 4.31 tornado—a return wizard itching to spin WR magic (he could not only help on offense but also on special teams where Keisean Nixon declared he’ll no longer return kicks).

In Dallas, he’s nabbed 13.5 yards per catch last season. At 28, he’s a late-blooming target that could become another sneaky free agent addition by Gutekunst. He’s the perfect example of a low-risk, high-reward acquisition the Packers will need, given their limited cap space situation.
