Giants Make Questionable Pick At No. 3, Gift Patriots Star in Mock Draft - Athlon Sports

NFL Insider Charles Davis recently revealed his first mock draft, and if his predictions were to come true, New England Patriots fans around the world would be rejoicing.

Davis has three quarterbacks being selected with the first three picks. He has Shedeur Sanders going No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans and Cam Ward at No. 2 to the Cleveland Browns. His third overall pick would be quite the shocker to the NFL world.

He has the New York Giants selecting Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart with the No. 3 pick. Dart has been impressive at Senior Bowls and the combine, but he has been mentioned in the same breath as those other two quarterbacks, and New York using a Top 5 pick on him would be one of the biggest draft-night shockers of all time.

If those results were to come to fruition, the best player in the draft would fall right into the lap of the Patriots. Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter would still be on the board, and New England may not wait even ten seconds to turn that selection in.

Carter is the type of player who can come in and turn around a franchise with his impact on defense. New head coach Mike Vrabel is a defensive-minded head coach, which would greatly benefit Carter’s development.

At the end of the day, Davis may know something that nobody else does, and Dart may rise up draft boards. If he does, New England will be the beneficiary and will have its defensive star of the future.
