The Ottawa Senators began March with earning three out of a possible four points in their first two games of the month. Now after six months into this season, the Senators will play the Chicago Blackhawks for the first time this season.

The Eastern Conference standings are extremely tight with every game mattering so much. It’s time for the Senators to take advantage against one of the worst teams in the NHL to climb up in the standings.

Sens meet Hawks in Windy City

The Senators travel to United Center to play the Blackhawks with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

Monday night saw a valiant effort from the Senators against the Washington Capitals. The Senators were down 3-0 in the second period, then tied the game at three, to trailing 4-3, to then tying the game on a powerplay with 1:08 remaining in regulation. Unfortunately, the Senators fell 5-4 in a shootout.

In the loss, the Senators had their important players show out. Jake Sanders recorded a three-assist game. Shane Pinto recorded a two-goal game. Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle each recorded a two-point game. Stutzle broke the Senators franchise record for most consecutive games with recording an assist. The Senators earning one point against the best team in the Eastern Conference after trailing 3-0 can be critical come April.

As for the Blackhawks, they come into tonight’s game with the second worst team in the NHL with a 19-35-7 record. The Blackhawks have won their past two games to gain some momentum heading into tonight.

Connor Bedard leads the Blackhawks with 49 points. Teuvo Teravainen leads the Blackhawks with 34 assists and is second on the team with 48 points. Ryan Donato, who has been in rumors of being acquired by the Senators, leads the Blackhawks with 22 goals.

Against the Blackhawks last season, the Senators split the season series with both teams winning one game in regulation against each other. In both games played against the Blackhawks, the Senators scored two goals in each game.
