BREAKING: Patriots sign former Titans third-round pick Monty Rice to practice squad

Patriots Announce Series Of Roster Moves After Trade Deadline

New England released rookie center Bryan Hudson to make room.

A member of the 2021 Tennessee Titans draft class has arrived at Gillette Stadium.

The New England Patriots announced the addition of linebacker Monty Rice to the practice squad as the NFL trade deadline passed Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

Rice, 25, was chosen in the third round at No. 92 overall under former general manager Jon Robinson and head coach Mike Vrabel. The Georgia product, who finished his Bulldogs tenure as a first-team All-SEC selection, spent three years in Tennessee. He appeared in 35 games, including 10 starts, while having a hand in 128 tackles and a pair of pass deflections.

The New Orleans Saints claimed Rice off waivers last December. After being part of the 53-man roster cutdown in August, the 6-foot, 233-pound linebacker joined the practice squad of the Atlanta Falcons. Released in October, his NFL career has spanned 631 snaps on defense and 412 snaps on special teams.

To make room in Foxborough, rookie center Bryan Hudson has been released from the practice squad.

Hudson, 23, had joined the scout team at its formation after spending training camp with the Detroit Lions. The 6-foot-5, 301-pound undrafted free agent served as a standard elevation last month versus the Miami Dolphins, yet did not see his initial NFL snaps beyond the preseason before reverting. He aligned between center, guard and tackle while at Virginia Tech and Louisville, totaling 41 starts through 60 collegiate appearances.

Earlier on Tuesday, New England waived interior lineman Zachary Thomas from the 53-man roster after signing fellow guard Tyrese Robinson off the practice squad of the Minnesota Vikings.
