Travis Kelce’s future in the NFL has been the subject of much debate in the wake of the Kansas City Chiefs loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, as retirement rumors are swirling. And yet, while Kelce’s future is in question, it’s fair to wonder what the future holds for his head coach, Andy Reid.
Reid confirmed ahead of the Super Bowl that he will be back for the 2025 campaign with the Chiefs, shutting down any potential retirement rumors ahead of his 67th birthday in March. When addressing Kelce’s status on Tuesday, Reid offered a murky update, simply saying Kansas City is still in wait and see mode.
“That’s up to Travis,” Reid said when asked about Kelce’s retirement decision. “At this point, get out of town and relax … You get to the end of the thing, you’ve exhausted yourself mentally and physically. Step back and take care of that, then we’ll talk. For right now, I think that’s what he’s doing.”
Time will tell whether or not Kelce does end up returning, but reports have surfaced indicating that the Chiefs are expecting him to be back in 2025. As for Reid, he’s not too concerned with his future, as he explained what his motivation is for continuing to coach, even after all the success he’s enjoyed with Kansas City.
“I’m not big on all the records stuff,” Reid said on Tuesday. “As a matter of fact, if you asked me how many wins I have right now, I couldn’t tell you … I don’t care about all of that. I’m in this to teach young guys, and I love the game.
Does Andy Reid have his eye on Don Shula's win record?

Reid has won three Super Bowls over the past six seasons with the Chiefs, and he has shown no signs of slowing down to this point. So while Kelce’s future is still up in the air, K.C. doesn’t have to worry about Reid’s career coming to an end just yet.
