The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for the offseason after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 earlier this month. The Chiefs have a lot of work to do after getting dominated by the Eagles in the biggest game of the year.

That said, Kansas City is already getting to work for next season, adding two new coaches to Andy Reid’s staff. The Chiefs announced that Matt House will be their senior defensive assistant and Chris Orr will be the defensive quality control coach.

House is returning to Kansas City after spending the last three years in the college ranks at LSU and the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars. House was the linebackers coach with the Jags this past season but was not retained after Jacksonville parted ways with Doug Pederson.

Before joining the Jaguars, House spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at LSU. With the Tigers, he served as their defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Reid and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo are likely happy to have House back with the team. House spent three years in Kansas City where he coached linebackers and was a part of the team that won the Super Bowl in 2019.

Meanwhile, Orr was the linebackers coach at Jackson St. University. The former NFL linebacker spent the 2024 season at Jackson St. after he played two years in the USFL and UFL with the New Jersey Generals and Birmingham Stallions.

The 27-year-old Orr had a solid collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin where he was named a team captain and All-Big Ten in 2019. After his college career finished, Orr joined the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

The former Wisconsin Badger standout only appeared in three games during the 2020 season. The Panthers waived Orr in May 2021, leading him back to Wisconsin where he was the football program’s director of player development. Orr will try to continue his football journey as a coach in the NFL with the Chiefs.
