BREAKING NEWS : Top 5 Kansas City Chiefs Free Agent Targets

Top 5 Kansas City Chiefs Free Agent Targets

Fresh off another deep playoff run and a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, the Kansas City Chiefs are focused on reloading their roster to stay atop the NFL. With key areas to address on both sides of the ball, smart moves in free agency could keep them in Super Bowl contention. Here are the top five free agents the Chiefs should target this offseason.

1. Ronnie Stanley — T, Baltimore Ravens

It appears that Kansas City is ready to let guard Trey Smith hit free agency. Part of that is likely due to their need to find a starting left tackle, an area that, at least in part, led to their Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia. Baltimore’s Ronnie Stanley is set to become a free agent and would be a perfect fit for the Chiefs. Landing Stanley would allow Kansas City to move Joe Thuney back to his natural guard position, allowing Mike Caliendo to slide over to the right guard position, filling the void left by Smith’s departure.

2. Haason Reddick — EDGE, New York Jets

Outside of fixing the outside of their offensive line, Kansas City could use some help on the outside of the defensive line. Josh Sweat sits atop that market, but the Chiefs aren’t in a position to spend at the top of the market at two premier positions, so they’ll likely be looking for a buy-low candidate like veteran Haason Reddick. Reddick is coming off of a down season that featured a trade from the Eagles to the Jets and a lengthy contract dispute that resulted in him missing a chunk of the season. He could be a perfect short-term, bounce-back candidate for Kansas City in this spot.

3. Cam Robinson — T, Minnesota Vikings

As I alluded to, Kansas City (which is currently in the red when it comes to available cap space) might not be spending at the top of the market. If they miss out (or sit out) on Ronnie Stanley, Cam Robinson could solve their problems similarly despite being a lesser talent at this point. However, Robinson is younger and could thrive in a coaching staff led by Andy Reid in Kansas City. If Kansas City is looking for an even more significant discount at this spot, veteran tackle Tyron Smith could be a fit.

4. Stefon Diggs — WR, Houston Texans

At some point, the Chiefs will have to spend money on the weapons surrounding Patrick Mahomes. For years, Mahomes has been supported by JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kadarious Toney, Skyy Moore, Marquise Brown, and an aging DeAndre Hopkins. Stefon Diggs is a free agent, and while he’s coming off of a season-ending injury, he would be the best wide receiver addition in Kansas City in some time. He could pair with Xavier Worthy as the top two wideouts in Kansas City on a short-term deal.

5. Dre Greenlaw — LB, San Francisco 49ers

If Nick Bolton is going to depart for a lucrative deal elsewhere, Kansas City should take a shot on veteran linebacker Dre Greenlaw. Greenlaw has been the leader of San Francisco’s defense for years and missed almost the entirety of the 2024 season due to injury. He’s still only 27, and if he can get healthy and return to form, he could be a perfect fit for Kansas City.
