The superstar tight end admitted he will take time to consider his options after the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles , having one year left on his contract but clearly coming towards the end of his career.
And speaking just less than two weeks after the Super Bowl, Travis’ elder brother, Jason , has stated that the NFL superstar already knows what the right decision is, as he’s likely to take a few more weeks before making his announcement.
Speaking on The Steam Room podcast with Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson, Jason had said: “I think he probably, in his heart, already knows what he wants to do. That’s the reality of it.
“I’m sure we will talk about it. We’ve already talked about it a little bit, and I’m sure he’s going to go through a process of figuring that out. We’re very similar people, but we also have different ways of thinking about things. And sometimes I can way over-analyze situations, and my brother has this way of being like, ‘Hey man, you want to play or you don’t want to play’.
“He’ll say something like that where it’s just like, don’t worry about all of these minor things. And nine times out of ten, he’s right about all of it.”
Speaking on his own podcast after the season, Travis told his fans: “I’m gonna take some time to figure it out. And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it’s gonna be a wholehearted decision and I’m not half-a—– it, and I’m fully here for them.
“I think I can play, it’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.”
The younger Kelce brother is almost sure to announce his decision prior to free agency beginning on March 10, so that the Chiefs can prepare for their season ahead while making the necessary moves to adjust their cap space and improve on a roster that looks to be in flux, with several players set to leave this offseason.
