BREAKING NEWS: Chiefs Get Positive Season Grade Despite Super Bowl Loss

The Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024 season is difficult to read properly because Andy Reid’s team has switched gears in how it wins football games.

4 Kansas City Chiefs to blame after heartbreaking Super Bowl 59 loss

No longer are the Chiefs outscoring teams easily and putting up points for fun. Instead, Steve Spagnuolo’s defense seemed like the driving force, and Patrick Mahomes was the bus driver of sorts on offense.

Chasing a historic three-peat, the Chiefs got as close as any team before them chasing that piece of history, but they got blown out badly in the Super Bowl by the Philadelphia Eagles.

But when assessing the season as a whole, CBS Sports has given the Chiefs an A-minus.

“The Chiefs’ season ended with a thud in the Super Bowl, but the 40-22 loss to the Eagles shouldn’t completely overshadow the things Kansas City achieved in 2024,” CBS Sports writes. “Kansas City made it back to the Super Bowl despite wideout Rashee Rice suffering a season-ending injury in Week 4 and running back Isiah Pacheco missing a large chunk of the year after getting injured in Week 2.”

That feels about right.

The Chiefs won the most regular season games of any team (15), won the division again, beat the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game, and made it back to the Super Bowl.

Boasting the fourth-best scoring defense (only allowing 19.4 points a game), the Chiefs managed to keep opposing offenses to 20 or fewer points 12 times in the regular season, leaving Mahomes and the offense not having to put up 30+ points each week.

Yes, the season ended horribly, but there were still plenty of good things to take out of 2024.
