Detroit Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson wasn’t shy about discussing the dream scenario of lining up in Honolulu Blue and Silver alongside Myles Garrett in the future.

On a recent episode of “The Squeeze” podcast, hosted by “Twilight” actor and Lions superfan Taylor Lautner and his wife, Tay, Hutchinson shared tidbits from a conversation he had with the Cleveland Browns star — along with Lions quarterback Jared Goff — a few weeks ago at the NFL Honors show in New Orleans.

“If me and Myles were to pair up, that would be deadly, you know?” Hutchinson said. “I was talking to him, we were at the Honors, and we were just talking about what could be. And although it’s probably unlikely, I think I would be thrilled to play next to him if it were to happen. But, yeah, our whole D-line would be, like, totally elevated, and we would—whew—that’d be a scary defensive line.

“We get along, too. I’ve seen him these last few years at different things. He texted me after I got hurt, which was just a cool thing. Guys outside of your own team who reach out to you—so I think he’s a good dude. If he does (come), great, but I don’t know. We’ll see. But that would be awesome.”

Earlier this month, Garrett made headlines after publicly requesting a trade from the Browns, stating a “desire to win” at this stage in his career.

Shortly after, the Browns doubled down on their intention not to move the six-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro in any trade.

However, that hasn’t stopped Hutchinson, the Lions fan base and one of his teammates from wondering, “What if?”

Shortly after Garrett’s trade request became public, Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown made it known on his podcast that bringing a player like Garrett to Detroit would be a significant boost to the defensive line.

“Him and Aidan (Hutchinson) and Alim (McNeill), D.J. (Reader) and all of our D-line? Bro!” St. Brown expressed enthusiastically.

“I swear, if you have a D-line that’s nasty, you don’t need any corners. You don’t need anything. Just play it off.”

Since entering the league in 2017, Garrett — who was the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year — has averaged at least 12.8 sacks per season and hasn’t registered fewer than double-digit sacks in a season since his rookie year.

The likelihood and potential trade scenarios the Lions could propose were discussed several weeks ago on MLive’s “Dungeon of Doom” podcast.
