BREAKING NEWS : 4 players the Chicago Blackhawks could trade that would surprise but make some sense

The Chicago Blackhawks do not have many assets to offer at the trade deadline. Although, they might have more than you think if they decide to make certain players available.

It would be surprising if they traded these players.

However, it would make some sense if the Blackhawks did trade these four players…

Arvid Soderblom or Petr Mrazek

This would be a surprise considering the Blackhawks do not have a lot of depth at goalie. At least, for now.

If Laurent Brossoit makes it back from his offseason knee injury that required another procedure during the season, then the Blackhawks have a logjam in net.

They will have a logjam no matter what in the summer if Brossoit is cleared to return after the trade deadline.

So, if they get a good offer for one of the active netminders, it might be worth considering so the goalie room gets less cluttered.

Plus, Soderblom is a pending restricted free agent. He has played well enough this season with a .906 save percentage to earn another contract. It should go beyond the one more season the Hawks have Brossoit and Mrazek under contract.

The issue of dealing one of these goalies before the deadline, and if Brossoit is not ready, the Hawks would have to bring up Drew Commesso who has been inconsistent at Rockford.

He is a big piece of the Hawks’ future at netminder, but he is not ready right now.

While there is still some logic to trading one of these goalies, the possibility of having to give Commesso more than an emergency start is not something the franchise will likely entertain.

Lukas Reichel

Teams did call last month about Reichel’s availability.

The reason the Hawks would move on from Reichel is he might be nothing more than a fourth-line player despite his immense offensive potential.

The Blackhawks have a lot of younger, talented forwards on the way.

Maybe, the Hawks might want to get something for Reichel while he is still regarded as a player not being given much of a runway on the top line.

However, he is still 22 and he does have 11 assists on the season. Really, it is just a matter of consistency.

When Reichel is playing well, he is great with his ability to enter the offensive zone and create once he is going toward the net.

The problem is he does not always do that on a nightly basis. He is still very young where giving up on him probably does not make sense yet.

Kevin Korchinski

This would be a shocker considering he is 20.

The only reason it sort of makes sense to trade a defenseman this early in his career is the logjam the Blackhawks have among the blue-line prospects.

He is the Hawks second-ranked prospect according to Chicago Sun-Times Blackhawks beat writer Ben Pope.

Korchinski has the most NHL experience among the Hawks’ defensive prospects with the full season he played last year. He was only on the NHL team last season because he was ineligible to play in Rockford due to his age.

So that could make attractive on the market given his promise and the NHL experience he already has.

The Hawks do have Artyom Levshunov, Sam Rinzel, Ethan Del Mastro, and Nolan Allan to team up with Alex Vlasic to put together the Hawks next great blue line unit.

At the same time, it is still too early to remove Korchinski from joining those five promising young defensemen of forming a skilled defensive group.
