Tavia Hunt, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, is reaching out to the family of one of the Chiefs’ key players – and one of the franchise’s “first families” in the wake of devastating news.
Mrs. Hunt’s heartfelt message to the family of Patrick Mahomes comes following the death of the quarterback’s grandfather. The Mahomes family is in mourning after Patrick’s mother Randi announced her father’s passing this week. Larry Randy Martin was 78.
Randi has posted on her Instagram page about when her father, Larry Martin, passed away, and she detailed that she was holding his hand as he passed.
“Hard to find the words of holding my father’s hand as he goes to Heaven,” Randi wrote. I know he’s in a better place. I love you daddy. Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23.”
A funeral is planned for Monday.
It was on Jan. 24 when Randi Mahomes revealed that her father had entered hospice. … just two days before the Chiefs played the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game.
The Chiefs defeated the Bills and advanced to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, with Randi saying her dad was “holding on” to watch The Big Game.
The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40-22 in the NFL finale.
Patrick’s grandfather’s passing has created an outpouring of grief and tributes from the Chiefs community, with Hunt posting an emotional message on social media.
“I’m so sorry for your loss,” she wrote. “My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I pray that you feel God’s comforting presence, and that He will bring you peace and strength in the days ahead. May His love surround you, and may you find comfort in the cherished memories you hold close.”
