Love is tied for the league lead in interceptions through Week 9
Despite missing 2.5 games with injury, Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love is tied for the league lead in interceptions with 10 after Week 9’s Sunday slate. For perspective, Love has thrown 102 fewer passes than the Seattle Seahawks’ Geno Smith, who has also thrown 10 interceptions this year.
And you know what? Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is tired of hearing about it.
After Green Bay’s home loss to the Detroit Lions, LaFleur stated that “it’s really annoying” having to field questions about Love’s interceptions on a weekly basis. LaFleur essentially made the case that Love is trying to make plays and that the coach continues to trust Love’s decision-making process as the young quarterback is figuring out which passes to make and avoid on the fly.
This interception by Jordan Love was a bad idea. Even if I’m a packers fan, you gotta have a little fun after a game like that. pic.twitter.com/Ot9dFDFAuh

Despite that, the once-a-week boneheaded throw is frustrating to watch for Packers fans. Versus Detroit, it was a pick-six on a checkdown to Josh Jacobs with 32 seconds left in the first half that killed Green Bay. That score gave the Lions a two-score lead, which the Packers never closed for the remainder of the game.
When asked about the play, Love said that he never saw safety Kerby Joseph, who made the interception in the backfield. He also mentioned that the ball didn’t go where he wanted it to be placed on the play. Double whammy. Ultimately, this statement explains how Love felt: “It’s definitely something I have to clean up.”
After the interception, Love’s groin injury appeared to have a flare-up, but that was the only time during the game that he looked visibly injured. According to him, he “felt fine” both during and after the game. LaFleur said that Love was checked out at halftime and that the medical staff had no reservations about throwing Love out there in the second half, which Love wanted to play through.
The Packers now enter a bye week. Hopefully, Love comes out rested — physically and mentally — on the other side of it.
