The Green Bay Packers had a really strong season that saw them win 11 games. Yet, their season was overshadowed by their fellow NFC North division rivals like the Minnesota Vikings, who won 14 games, and the Detroit Lions, who landed the conference’s top seed in the NFL Playoffs.
With the Packers seemingly still a step behind, not just in the NFC but in their division, it’s time to add a few impact players.
One potential option could be for the Packers to get in on the Myles Garrett trade request from the Cleveland Browns. Recently, Bleacher Report’s James Palmer stoked the flames by giving Packers fans more hope about Garrett landing in Green Bay.
“I wouldn’t sleep on the Packers,” Palmer said. “In my opinion, I just think that would be an intriguing spot right there. They turned the ball over a ton, but they’ve had some success with acquiring some monster pass rusher free agents in the past… I think that’d be really, really huge for the Packers, if they want to get finally into another group. I know they need more consistent play from Jordan Love, I just think that one’s kinda interesting to me.”
Garrett is believed to be worth at least one, if not two, first-round selections. The Packers won’t get a player who can make a bigger impact than Garrett, a six-time Pro Bowl selection, with the 23rd overall pick in the first round, so why not consider packaging that for the former Defensive Player of the Year winner?
Garrett was signed to a five-year, $125 million contract in 2020. He has just two more years left on his contract, so his next team will likely want to negotiate a long-term extension along with the trade, yet the Packers have plenty of money to spend.
