🔴 Patrick Mahomes Gains Extra Firepower! Chiefs Make Bold Move Ahead of High-Stakes Showdown with Buccaneers 🏈🔥

Patrick Mahomes Gets More Help for Buccaneers Clash With Chiefs Latest Move - Athlon Sports

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will look to keep their undefeated season alive on Monday Night Football when they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to wrap up Week 9. And ahead of the game, the Chiefs have made an interesting move that’s geared towards helping Mahomes out under center.

While Kansas City has yet to lose a game this season, they haven’t received truly great play from Mahomes under center. He’s completing a career-high 68.4 percent of his passes, but that’s resulted in him averaging a career-low 235.9 yards per game, in addition to throwing more interceptions (nine) than touchdowns (eight).

Mahomes’ supporting cast on offense has been quite beat up, but they have gotten some help in recent weeks from some new faces. It looks like another player will be given a shot to carve out a role on offense alongside Mahomes, as the Chiefs elevated wide receiver Justyn Ross from the practice squad before this contest.

“The Chiefs have elevated WR Justyn Ross from the practice squad to the active roster for tonight’s game vs the Bucs. This will be his first game of the season on the active roster.” – Jordan Schultz

Despite going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Chiefs have been high on Ross’ potential, and have been working on developing him behind the scenes. He caught six passes for 53 yards in limited action last season, but he has yet to play a snap for KC this season.

That is set to change in Week 9, though, and while guys like Travis Kelce, DeAndre Hopkins, and Xavier Worthy will have bigger roles on offense than Ross, he will have an opportunity to chip in on offense given how many injuries the team is currently dealing with.

Kickoff for this contest is set for 8:15 P.M. EST, and while this may not be the flashiest move, fans should keep an eye on Ross now that he has been elevated for this game, as he could end up making a couple of plays to help the Chiefs out.
