Chiefs Elevate WR From Practice Squad Amid Multiple Injuries

Chiefs Elevate WR Justyn Ross From Practice Squad Amid Multiple Injuries - Newsweek

The Kansas City Chiefs are aiming to secure their eighth win of the season. They will attempt to do so against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.

The biggest issue with the team is the multiple injuries they have faced in their wide receiver room. Rashee Rice, Skyy Moore, Juju Smith-Schuster, Hollywood Brown, and Jaaron Hayek are all out.

To help with the massive losses to the receiving position, the Chiefs have elevated

Justyn Ross to the active roster.

Ross has been elevated from the practice squad, which will be the first time he has been elevated to the active roster.

Ross now joins DeAndre Hopkins, Justin Watson, and Mecole Hardman as the only healthy receivers on the Chiefs’ roster. Should another receiver go down on Monday Night Football, the team could be in a very tough spot.

The Chiefs had to elevate Ross as a solution while they likely waited to secure a deal by the NFL trade deadline. There is a strong chance that Kansas City will acquire another receiver by Tuesday’s deadline, simply because they are attempting to go all in on this season.

The Chiefs are the only undefeated team in the NFL and have done so with a depleted receiving room. Granted, the team also still has tight end Travis Kelce, but more help is needed.

Ross now has a chance to impress under the primetime lights. Should he showcase elite skill, he might remain on the active roster until the season ends.

The Chiefs should get back Smith-Schuster soon, along with star running back Isiah Pacheco coming back soon. If Kansas City can hang on with its current roster, they will get plenty of help in the coming weeks.

The Chiefs are attempting to become the first team in the NFL to secure a third consecutive Super Bowl victory. They are looking to be the team that can do that, but they clearly have a glaring hole in the receiving position.

Kansas City also has a knack for finding receivers that end up becoming stars. Ross might just be that player. Despite his being on the practice squad, he could work his way to a bigger role after a solid performance tonight.

Time will tell if Ross can step up in the way the Chiefs need him to. If he does not, expect Kansas City to trade for another receiver, much like they did with Hopkins.
