Potential Patriots' Drake Maye Backup Delivers Promising Words on Mike Vrabel - Athlon Sports

Newly hired New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel proved his value in his tenure as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans with teams that were tough, disciplined, and gritty.

With a pedigree of winning both as a player and a head coach, many around the league believe he is the solution to New England’s ascension back to relevancy.

With Joe Milton III in many trade rumors this offseason, New England could very well be in the market for a suitable backup quarterback.

In an interview with reporter Taylor Kyles of Patriots on CLNS Media at Super Bowl media day, Jameis Winston, a potential option, spoke highly about Vrabel and his coaching style.

“I know that your team is going to be disciplined. I know that your team is going to be tough and I know that your team is going to be smart… I know he’s gonna bring back the Patriot way.” said Winston.

Winston found himself as a starter for the Cleveland Browns this year after Deshaun Watson suffered a torn Achilles back in Week 7.

He is set to become a free agent in the 2025 offseason and could have many suitors lined up, some even viewing him as a starting option as a bridge quarterback.

If the Patriots front office sees a fit, he would be a valuable asset to the quarterback room and further advance Drake Maye’s development after a strong rookie year.

GM Eliot Wolf will have many challenging decisions this offseason, depending on how he views Milton and Jacoby Brissett.
