The Cincinnati Bengals posted a subpar 9-8 record during the 2024 NFL season. They did this while superstar quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 4,918 yards, 43 touchdowns and nine assists.
The LSU product was remarkable during the campaign, though it wasn’t enough for the squad to overcome a 1-4 start to the season to make the playoffs.
Not only did Burrow have a career season, but so did his superstar wide receiver teammate Ja’Marr Chase — who was the best receiver in the entire NFL — as he won the triple crown as the third player to do so in this century.
Needless to say, the superstar duo was superb, players like Tee Higgins and Trey Hendrickson were great and the Bengals got some more solid individual performances.
The signs of a good team are there. While Cincinnati will be looking to make roster upgrades with some of the salary cap space they will have, they’ve also got to extend Chase and Hendrickson’s contracts while looking to retain Higgins on the open market.
Burrow is working tirelessly, in the public eye, to ensure the Bengals do their best to retain the star talents. Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz recently broke down what Burrow is doing to apply pressure on Cincinnati.
“League executives are well aware of the public pressure Joe Burrow has been applying to the Bengals since the season ended – and it has continued this week at Radio Row in New Orleans,” Schultz tweeted. “Burrow has made it clear, both privately and publicly, that the team must do whatever it takes to keep its core intact. There’s frustration over key players leaving, and he wants to see Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase, Trey Hendrickson, and Mike Gesicki all taken care of.”

For Burrow, the team’s franchise superstar, this is sending a message. The club needs to keep him happy, as he holds the keys to taking the squad back to the Super Bowl.
How the Bengals approach the offseason will show where their priorities stand, too. Burrow is ready to restructure his contract to make sure the team’s core gets fair wages, too.
