St. Brown is out here recruiting.
There’s a good chance that many Detroit Lions fans are still in a deep, dark depression since being ousted from a shot at the Vince Lombardi trophy this year. Let this bit of news help shine a glimmer of hope into your long, dark Michigan winter full of “what ifs” when you think about your team and what they could’ve done had they not lost to the Washington Commanders.
With the announcement this week that Myles Garrett is requesting a trade from the Cleveland Browns generating buzz, many want to hop on the bandwagon of speculating about where one of the league’s best defensive ends could end up.
Picture this: A defense with Garrett and Aidan Hutchinson; that’s what’s in the mind of Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

On the latest episode of The St. Brown podcast, the Lions star wideout talked about how much of a bold but worthy move it would be for the team’s front office to make a move towards acquiring Garrett.

“I should probably text (general manager) Brad (Holmes) and see, you know, what they’re thinking about doing,” St. Brown said. “Him and Aiden and Alim and DJ and all of our D-line. If you have a defensive line that’s nasty, you don’t need. any corners. You don’t. You don’t need anything. Just play it off.”
The Lions will already be a team that many will have their eyes on next season and in the foreseeable future. Their playoff hopes have halted the last two seasons, but Dan Campbell’s squad has always played with grit and resilience. After years of outshining nearly the entire Cleveland roster, Garrett could fit in perfectly into that dynamic.
St. Brown seems eager to recruit a bit this off-season.
He got on a kick about Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who expects to be traded soon. St. Brown seems to think that just like Garrett being an incredible addition, imagine the impact Kupp would have on the already fast-paced offense.
However, St. Brown’s brother and co-host, Equanimeous St. Brown, shot that idea down, feeling the Lions needed to focus more on adding defensive players this offseason.
Credit must go where credit is due. Who would have thought five years ago that the Lions would be a hot spot for free agents and those on the market between seasons?
