BREAKING NEWS: Patrick Mahomes’ mom shares heartbreaking update before Super Bowl

Patrick Mahomes' mom shares heartbreaking family update days before Chiefs' Super Bowl clash | Daily Mail Online

Patrick Mahomes’ mom, Randi Martin, shared an emotional update on her father ahead of Super Bowl LIX this week.

It was revealed last month that Mahomes’ grandfather, Randy, had been moved into hospice care a little over 48 hours before the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback secured his place in the Super Bowl.

And as Mahomes prepares to play in his fifth Super Bowl in six years, Randi paid a visit to her 78-year-old father.

The mother-of-three revealed Tuesday that she had spent the afternoon with her dad, who was just as focused on the Super Bowl five days out from the Big Game down in New Orleans.

‘Afternoon with daddy & all he wants to talk about is the Superbowl,’ Randi shared to her Instagram story, alongside a sweet photo of her holding his hand.

She has repeatedly spoken on social media about her father, Randy, and his ill health but has never revealed precisely what the issue is. Randy turned 78 on January 6.

Randi took to Instagram over the holidays and asked for prayers for her father, Randy and in September shared a picture of herself watching Patrick and the Chiefs play from her dad’s hospital bed.

‘Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy,’ she wrote on September 13 as the Chiefs played the Los Angeles Chargers. ‘He is in the hospital and is not well.’

She also shared a picture of her father out of hospital on Thanksgiving and said she was thrilled to be celebrating with him.

Despite her father being moved to a hospice just days earlier, Randi was sill in attendance at Arrowhead to support her son during the AFC Championship against the Buffalo Bills.

After the game – and after the Chiefs had sealed progression to New Orleans – Mahomes was quick to come together with his family on the field.

In an emotional family moment, the quarterback posed with his mom Randi, wife Brittany – just days after she gave birth to their third child – dad Patrick Snr, brother Jackson and half-sister Mia.

The photo, which was posted by controversial figure Jackson, was accompanied by the caption ‘SUPERBOWL TIME!!!’ and includes red and yellow ticker tape floating in the background.

Now, Mahomes and his Chiefs team continue their pursuit of the ‘three-peat’ – an historic third straight Super Bowl title – in the Big Easy on Sunday.

The quarterback and his teammates arrived in the Crescent City on Sunday but it remains unclear when or if his mom will make the trip down.
