Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles is still five days away, but the players were already busy with pre-game media sessions.
On Monday night members of both teams took center stage to answer a variety of questions from reporters. During the media availability, Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley gave Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones plenty of respect.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever actually met Chris Jones, but he’s a fantastic player,” Barkley said. “One of the best defensive players in the league, you can make an argument is the best defensive player in the league. Definitely a guy that we got to key on, and don’t let him wreck the game.”
Jones, meanwhile, paid respect to the player he believes in the most valuable player in the league this season: Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
“I wish the Bills organization the best, I absolutely respect their quarterback. I think he was the MVP this year and they got a heck of a team and I absolutely respect their head coach,” Jones said referring to Allen and Bills head coach Sean McDermott.
In two games against the Chiefs this season – one in the regular season and in the AFC title game – Allen completed 49-of-74 for 499 yards with three touchdowns and one interception through the air and another 94 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Once again Allen was able to slay the Chiefs during the regular season, but couldn’t get his team passed the four-time Super Bowl champions.
