Cleveland Browns News and Rumors 2/1: Treveyon Hype, False Revelations, and Ratbird Discomfort

Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!

I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend. I plan on enjoying mine as much as I can, considering that I’m planning on watching Nosferatu this evening. The movie seems grim, but I’m a big fan of the director, so I will put myself through it as my wife (who refuses to watch it) will be otherwise occupied this evening. Therefore, I’m free to watch whatever movie I want. Usually, I opt for something involving explosions, space aliens, and lasers at this juncture, but I can’t find anything like that available, so vampires it is.

Speaking of bloodsuckers, the aggregators and clickbaiters who infest the Browns media space have been busy over the last 24 hours, so let’s use this space to do reality checks on the latest nonsense passing for “Browns news” that we’ve seen over the last 24 hours.

Todd McShay Says Something and I Don’t Care

Todd McShay needs to shut up. I have no idea what he’s doing these days. I think he’s no longer being used as a tame Mel Kiper foil on ESPN, but he’s still talking about draft picks. Yesterday, he waxed poetic about one of my favorite Buckeyes, Treveyon Henderson:

First off, anyone who impales themselves on the OBR Weekly video feed regularly knows I’ve picked Henderson as my favorite draftable Buckeye of 2025, and I generally ramble about the same things McShay says here: He’s not only an explosive runner but a complete player who blocks and catches well out of the backfield. I know this because I’m unbiased regarding the world-famous Ohio State Buckeyes, who, in case you have forgotten, are the National Champions of College Football.

McShay hypes him further, saying he’s a possible Round 1 draft pick.

Two things: (1) McShay needs to be quiet since I don’t want Henderson to be hyped and go early, and (2) all the aggregators I saw pimped this as Henderson being a “rumored Browns target.” There is no “rumor” that he’s a Browns target. Nothing substantial. That’s just BS or wishful thinking. There’s no indication from inside Berea that they focus on him more than anyone else.

So, Todd McShay says something so obvious even I’ve been saying it, and I wish he wouldn’t.

Ratbirds are Hypocrisy on the Wing

Justin Tucker’s fall from grace has been abrupt. First, he fell apart on the field, and now his legacy off the field looks dark and ugly. We’re familiar with the types of accusations he’s been targeted with here in Cleveland and the associated self-loathing that comes from being forced to watch a player alleged to engage in such behavior.

During the Watson process, Ratbird head coach John Harbaugh made sure he got up on his soapbox to proclaim how the Rats, who have a statue of Ray Lewis outside their stadium, are above such matters and have a zero-tolerance policy for this type of behavior.

As of now, Justin Tucker is still a Rat.

Ian Rapoport Shares Deep Revelations about Browns Draft Plans

This was hyped as Rapoport revealing the Browns draft plans by the usual suspects, but it’s just a guess. He says, “They’re likely to take a quarterback” based on need, not inside information, as far as I can tell. There is no mention of sources, so I’m reading this as a guess, little more informed than yours or mine. But it’s Rapoport, and aggregators like clicks, so off we go.

Sigh. Something out of nothing. That’s the road to Internet riches.
