Over the weekend the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles punched their tickets to the Super Bowl with victories over the Buffalo Bills and Washington Commanders in their respective conference title games.
This will be the second meeting in the past three seasons for the Chiefs and Eagles in the Super Bowl, with Patrick Mahomes and company emerging with a 38-35 victory in Super Bowl LVII.
As Super Bowl LIX draws near, a troubling stat for Eagles fans emerged showing defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s lack of success against Mahomes when he was the DC with the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins.
“Something to note ahead of the Super Bowl. Eagles DC Vic Fangio has faced Patrick Mahomes eight times (6 with Denver, twice with Miami). His teams are 0-8, and Mahomes has thrown 10 TDs and 2 INTs in those games,” betting contributor Ryan Hannable noted.

Eagles fans don’t seem to be too concerned, though.
“This eagles team is by far and away better than those teams. I wouldn’t put too much into past results given the talent on those Denver teams especially and how good chiefs were during that era as well,” one person said.
“This is also easily Fangios best defense of those 8 and also, 10TD in 8 games?” offered another.
“That is fair. As is pointing out he has never had the talent on D, particularly rushing and defending the passer, that he now has in Philly. Should be a fascinating matchup. Everyone hating on the two teams playing instead of marveling at the high level of competition ahead,” added a third.
Super Bowl LIX kicks off at 6:30 p.m. EST on Feb. 9 and the game will be broadcast on Fox.
