BREAKING : Patrick Mahomes Reveals Surprising Key to Chiefs Success in 2024

Patrick Mahomes Reveals Surprising Key to Chiefs Success in 2024 - Athlon Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl, and Patrick Mahomes has once again played a big role in their success. While fans universally agree that Mahomes is the biggest key to the Chiefs recent dynastic run, for the 2024 campaign, the superstar quarterback believes there was a more important development that took place.

While Mahomes has already established himself as arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, he didn’t play up to his usual standard for much of the season. Throwing for 3,928 yards and 26 touchdowns is nothing to complain about, but it’s a far cry from the 5,250 yards and 41 touchdowns he threw for just two years ago in 2022.

Mahomes’ ability to grind out wins with the Chiefs is obviously a big reason for their success, but in his eyes, it’s not the most important piece of the puzzle. In Mahomes’ eyes, that would be Kansas City’s ability to get contributions from every player that takes the field for them.

“That’s what makes us so great, is it’s not just one guy. It’s everybody. Never gets old,” Mahomes said to Albert Breer in the wake of beating the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday night.

The Chiefs certainly have not had the easiest road to the Super Bowl, as they have had to grind out the majority of the wins, rather than blowing teams out of the water like we have become accustomed to seeing from them. Losing guys like Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown, and Isiah Pacheco to long-term injuries certainly didn’t help either.

And yet it didn’t matter, not just because of Mahomes, but because of the Chiefs ability to maximize the contributions of every player on their roster. And if everyone can step up around Mahomes in Super Bowl 59 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City will have a great shot at completing their goal of winning their third straight title.
