The Detroit Lions were one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl heading into the 2024 NFL season.

They lost in the NFC Championship in 2023, and many believed they’d be back with a vengeance this year.

Fans were happy to see the team secure a first-round bye, needing just one playoff win to make it back to the NFC Championship, hoping to complete what they were unable to do in the prior season.

While the Lions were heavy favorites heading into their matchup with the Washington Commanders, the Commanders came out firing and beat the Lions at their own game.

This was a stunning result to the NFL world, as the Lions were a juggernaut during the regular season.

Anything can happen in this league, and the Lions found that out the hard way.

Some players have talked about what this loss felt like, including Amon Ra St. Brown, who touched on this game during a recent episode of his podcast.

“Being in the locker room and hearing them celebrate was the worst,” he said. When asked about watching the NFC Championship, St. Brown also said, “I just might not even watch. Just go back to the crib, duck off. Like, actually go to Cancun.”

Going to Cancun is a joke that people often talk about when referencing NFL players being in the offseason, but St. Brown might take that seriously over the next few days.

He and his teammates have plenty of time to reflect on this season and prepare for the 2025 campaign, and a change of scenery might do him some good.
