The Green Bay Packers have proven themselves to be a team not afraid of making a splash move. In back to back off-seasons, Green Bay traded away Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. The following year they essentially “traded” Aaron Jones for Josh Jacobs (with Jones being released and Jacobs being signed the same day).
However, 2024 could be an even bigger year for a Green Bay trade.
Packers’ Potential Blockbuster Trade Gaining Widespread Attention Throughout League
Green Bay Packers are looking for any and all ways to boost their roster in order to get over the hump in 2025 following a disappointing 2024 playoff appearance.
The pass-rush is an area where the Packers could use some help. The Packers finished tied for eighth in sacks last season, but they lack an edge rusher who can dominate:
In a recent article suggesting offseason trades, The 33rd Team’s Tyler Brooke had a possible solution: Las Vegas Raiders superstar edge rusher Maxx Crosby, who may end up being available during the 2025 offseason.
“The Green Bay Packers desperately need a pass rusher. Not one they can be patient in developing, but one who can contribute right away for a potential Super Bowl run in 2025. For all of the good with Jeff Hafley’s defense this season, the Packers ranked just 26th in pass rush win rate,” Brooke wrote.
“No player had 50 or more pressures this year, and only Rashan Gary (49) had more than 40. Crosby would come in and be an immediate difference-maker in Hafley’s defense,” Brooke added. “He had 54 pressures and 7.5 sacks in just 12 games this year and is also a disruptive player against the run.
“It would take significant resources to convince the Raiders to give up their franchise player in his prime. However, if Crosby wants to play for a contender before the end of his career, then the Packers would be the perfect landing spot.”
Here is a look at Crosby’s career stats:
