Despite what some may think, the Green Bay Packers are set at the quarterback position for the foreseeable future. After giving Jordan Love a four-year $220 million contract near the beginning of training camp last year, Green Bay has committed to the 2020 first round pick as their franchise quarterback, just as they planned to do when they first drafted him.

This season, Love did not perform as well as many would have expected after he signed the largest contract in franchise history. He completed 63.1% of his passes for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 96.7 passer rating (15 games).

And while Love is in absolutely no danger of losing his job, it is interesting that the Packers have recently met with two quarterbacks at the Tropical Bowl.

According to Easton Butler of Packer Report, the Packers have met with two quarterbacks at the Tropical Bowl: Chandler Rogers of California and Davis Black of the California University of Pennsylvania.

Rogers, a senior who was third on the depth chart at California, appeared in eight games in 2024 while completing 12 of 25 passes for 117 yards. He previously played for Louisiana-Monroe and North Texas.

While with North Texas as a junior in 2023, Rogers completed 62.2% of his passes for 3,382 yards, 29 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Black, whose school is a Division II establishment, completed 63.2% of his passes for 2,948 yards, 21 touchdowns, and four interceptions in 2024.

Prior to the 2024 NFL Draft, general manager Brian Gutekunst had said he wanted the Packers to get back into the business of developing quarterbacks, even if they had no intention of starting them. He tried to do so with Michael Pratt, but that seventh round pick did not play well enough to garner a spot on the 53-man roster or practice squad.

The Packers ended up trading a seventh-round pick for Malik Willis, who won the two games he started in place of an injured Love. As he is still under contract with Green Bay for one more year, it is likely that the Packers roll with both of their top two quarterbacks from 2024 again in 2025.
