The Kansas City Chiefs have already watched a couple of defensive backs come up injured early in their game against the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round. The good news is that cornerback Trent McDuffie was in and out after a short visit to the medical tent, but now Bryan Cook is the latest to seek attention from trainers.
Cook is now back in the locker room after being in the medical tent and reports had him meeting with a neurologist, which insinuates a head injury. It’s possible he lands in the team’s concussion protocol, but that’s yet to be determined.
Cook went down in the first quarter on a 3rd-and-2 play for the Texans when C.J. Stroud found wide receiver Nico Collins for a first down on a 14-yard gain. Cook came up injured on the play and immediately was on the sidelines with medical staff around him.

A former second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Cook is a full-time starter at safety for the Chiefs and played in all 17 games this season. He had 78 total tackles, 5 pass deflections, and 2 interceptions during the regular season.
Unfortunately Cook was also injured late last season with an ankle issue that kept him from the team’s postseason and limited him to 12 games on the year.
We will keep this updated as more information about Cook’s condition is made available.
