BREAKING: “🚨 Double Trouble for the Kansas City Chiefs! Mecole Hardman & Jaylen Watson hit with injury concerns just before the playoffs – What does this mean for their title hopes? 🏈🔥”

Chiefs injury news: Are Jaylen Watson, Mecole Hardman back? | Kansas City Star

The Kansas City Chiefs are at risk of being without two key players as they finally dive into playoff action this weekend.

The Chiefs will continue their journey to the Super Bowl Saturday when they take on the Houston Texans in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.

Having received a bye week as the AFC No. 1 seed, Andy Reid’s team is expected to be rested and raring to go.

However, the reigning Super Bowl champions faced an injury scare Thursday when it was announced that Jaylen Watson and Mecole Hardman were on the injury report.

Starting cornerback Watson was listed as questionable after he broke his ankle during a Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Meanwhile, Hardman, the wide receiver who scored the Chiefs’ winning touchdown in last season’s Super Bowl, was listed as doubtful.

Wide receiver Mecole Hardman is not expected to return after being listed as doubtful

Watson has been sidelined with a broken fibular since late October but returned to practice at the beginning of the month, ahead of Kansas City’s Week 18 defeat to the Denver Broncos.

The defensive star has not played since the Chiefs’ Super Bowl rematch against the San Francisco 49ers on October 20.

But, despite being officially listed as questionable, Watson is still expected to return to action for the Chiefs’ defense Saturday, according to Pro Football Talk.

Hardman, however, is reportedly unlikely to join him in the lineup after being listed as doubtful to be activated from injured reserve in time.

The wideout is returning from a knee injury and was a limited participant in practice this week.

No other Chiefs players had injury designations, meaning defensive tackle Chris Jones and left tackle D.J. Humphries are also expected to return in time to launch the Chiefs’ Super Bowl three-peat quest.
