Despite injuries to several key players including running back Isiah Pacheco, wide receivers Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown, defensive end Charles Omenihu and cornerback Jaylen Watson, the Kansas City Chiefs are still the top team in the NFL.
KC has already addressed a few of its issues in trading for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans and edge-rusher Josh Uche from the New England Patriots, but there’s still some glaring holes on the team’s roster.
With the NFL trade deadline just days away (4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 5), The Athletic’s Dianna Russini says the Chiefs are a team to keep an eye on as they may still have a trade or two up their sleeve.
“The Kansas City Chiefs already made their moves, and it was no surprise GM Brett Veach pulled off two trades before we even reached the deadline,” Russini wrote. “But the Chiefs still might not be done.
“If a wide receiver falls into their laps, I’m told they are going to try to land another one with Skyy Moore on injured reserve. Also, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo would love for Veach to get him a young, fast corner. Kansas City is trying to land the final pieces on its mission to a three-peat.”
If the Chiefs are still targeting receivers, most of the big fish — Davante Adams, Amari Cooper, Diontae Johnson — have already been shipped to new teams.
However, Mike Williams (New York Jets), Courtland Sutton (Denver Broncos), Romeo Doubs (Green Bay Packers) and Darius Slayton (New York Giants) are all rumored to still be available.
The cornerback market could be even more competitive if KC is looking to bring in an impact player. Marshon Lattimore (New Orleans Saints), Tre’Davious White (Los Angeles Rams) and Jonathan Jones (New England Patriots) are the top options still available.
