Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs will have an extra week of rest after securing the AFC’s No. 1 seed and a bye in the upcoming NFL playoffs.<\/p>\n

Kelce has been arguably the best tight end in Chiefs history, with the utmost respect to Tony Gonzalez. However, after turning 35 years old, the former Cincinnati Bearcats star’s production is starting to decline.<\/p>\n

In 16 games this season, Kelce recorded 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns. Although he was named a Pro Bowler for the 10th straight year, Kelce had his worst statistical season since 2015.<\/p>\n

Following the playoffs, Kansas City could start to look for Kelce’s future replacement. And Kyle Crabbs of The 33rd Team thinks he knows just the guy for the Chiefs. In his latest mock draft, Crabbs believes the Chiefs will select Michigan Wolverines tight end Colston Loveland with the No. 32 pick.<\/p>\n

“Kansas City has been willing to find ways to make the wide receiver room work each year, but its investment in the tight end room has been a much more central focus,” Crabbs wrote. “Travis Kelce is irreplaceable – but that shouldn’t stop the Chiefs from trying to ensure they are as well equipped for the future without him as they possibly can be. That means Colston Loveland, the hybrid flex tight end out of Michigan, could make some sense.”<\/p>\n

Loveland has been a star for Michigan over the past two seasons. The junior out of Gooding, Idaho, was named to the first-team All-Big Ten in 2023 and was a second-team All-American in 2024. He even helped bring the Wolverines a national championship during Jim Harbaugh’s last year with the program.<\/p>\n

Through three seasons, Loveland, a 6-foot-5, 245-pounder, has tallied 117 catches for 1,466 yards and 11 touchdowns. If the Chiefs were to select him with their first round pick, Loveland would have one of the best tight ends to learn from in Kelce.<\/p>\n
