Nick Chubb has been through a lot over the past year.<\/p>\n
And another recovery now lies ahead of Chubb after the 28-year-old running back suffered a broken foot in Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.<\/p>\n
Chubb suffered the injury in the third quarter, when he limped off the field and went into the medical tent.<\/p>\n
Chubb then went back into the locker room, where he was later ruled out by the Browns due to a left foot injury, the same side he injured his knee last season.<\/p>\n
After the game, Chubb was seen leaving the locker room in a walking boot and crutches.<\/p>\n
Cleveland’s coach Kevin Stefanski said\u00a0in his postgame availability to the media that Chubb suffered a broken foot, likely ending his season.<\/p>\n
In addition, Stefanski was emotional when discussing Chubb’s road to recovery.<\/p>\n
Chubb’s injury was just one of his woes in the third quarter. On the Browns’ first offensive play, a pass from quarterback Jameis Winston slipped through Chubb’s hands and was reeled in by Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton.<\/p>\n
Then, Chubb fumbled the ball, which was recovered by Kansas City, after taking a handoff.<\/p>\n
Following the 2024 season, Chubb is set to become an unrestricted free agent, though it remains unclear if the Browns will offer him a contract extension.<\/p>\n
However, Chubb said last week that he would like to remain with the Browns for the rest of his career.<\/p>\n
This isn’t the first of Chubb’s lower body\u00a0injuries\u00a0though.<\/p>\n
At Georgia, Chubb suffered his first significant knee injury. Then in 2023,\u00a0he suffered another season-ending knee injury that required multiple surgeries.<\/p>\n
Chubb then made his 2024 return Oct. 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals.<\/p>\n
The injury is already having a significant emotional impact within the organization.<\/p>\n
Stefanski was emotional as he discussed Chubb’s road to recovery, knowing he had already been though so much.<\/p>\n
“I have a first row seat to what he’s been able to do,”\u00a0Stefanski said. “I can’t tell you how much I respect him as a person, what he means to this football team. So [I’m] really really disappointed about this injury. Does not change the fact that he continues to inspire this football\u00a0with how he approaches every single day and I know this is another obstacle that he will overcome.”<\/p>\n
Browns right guard Wyatt Teller also shared a similar sentiment,\u00a0acknowledging Chubb’s impact not only on the team, but on the city of Cleveland in general.<\/p>\n
“It’s really bad,” Teller said. “Injuries are part of the game, they’re all around us. You just pray it’s not your brother. I’ve said that before but it really sucks when it’s someone like Nick, somebody who works so hard, [he] cares so much about this game and this community and this city.”<\/p>\n
With Chubb’s season over, it raises the question if he’s played his last snap ever for the Browns, with him set to hit free agency and another tough recovery ahead of him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
