The Cincinnati Bengals made it official by placing linebacker Logan Wilson on injured reserve on Friday. Wilson was sidelined in Week 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers because of a knee injury, which eventually required a cleanup surgery. With about a month-long recovery ahead of him, Wilson will miss the rest of the 2024 season, per KPRC’s Aaron Wilson.<\/p>\n
Wilson is second on the team with 104 total tackles and led the Bengals in tackles last season. The 28-year-old has spent all five seasons of his NFL career with Cincinnati, joining the club as a third-round pick out of Wyoming in the 2020 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n
Wilson has been the Bengals’ “green dot” linebacker for quite some time. The green dot refers to the green dot on the player’s helmet, which indicates that they receive defensive play calls from the defensive coordinator via a helmet speaker. They are then responsible for calling out the plays to their teammates and are typically in charge of any on-the-fly adjustments.<\/p>\n
The Bengals’ defense has struggled this season, allowing 340 points, which is second-most in the league. DC Lou Anarumo and head coach Zac Taylor are rumored to be on the hot seat.<\/p>\n
At the very least, Anarumo takes accountability for the defense’s woes, per Laurel Pfahler of WCPO.<\/p>\n
“Obviously, all of this starts and ends with me,” Anarumo said. “How we play is certainly my responsibility. I think the players have done a fantastic job of preparing, practicing with energy, giving us their best. I’m proud of the way we’ve gone about that. We need to do a better job — I need to do a better job of making sure it shows up on Sundays.”<\/p>\n
