<\/p>\nThe\u00a0Pittsburgh Steelers\u00a0would love for Aaron Rodgers to quit playing child-like games with the franchise and announce his intentions to re-sign with the six-time Super Bowl champions.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, that hasn\u2019t happened yet, as Rodgers remained unsigned for the 2026-27 offseason. To make matters worse, the Rodgers saga\u00a0recently took an unexpected turn\u00a0in early May.<\/p>\n

\u201cAaron Rodgers may have been in Pittsburgh over the weekend, but his visit didn\u2019t include a meeting with the Steelers,\u201d Pro Football Talk\u2019s Josh Alper reported Monday. \u201cA report from 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh late last week said that Rodgers would be at the team\u2019s facility and that he was expected to sign with the team before the weekend was over.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSubsequent reports cast doubt on the imminent signing, whether the Steelers had any idea that Rodgers was going to be in the city and that any meeting was in the works. Saturday brought word that Rodgers and the Steelers had\u00a0not met and ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday that the weekend passed without any interaction between the quarterback and the team.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Steelers move into the final phase of their offseason program next Monday when they hold the first of 10 scheduled offseason team activities. Whether Rodgers will be there for any of those workouts remains as much of a mystery as it was when his first season as a Steeler came to an end in a 30-6 blowout loss to the (Houston)\u00a0Texans.\u201d<\/p>\n
It appears Rodgers and the Steelers are nowhere near an agreement for the upcoming NFL campaign. The future Hall of Fame quarterback completed 327 passes for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven touchdowns with Pittsburgh last year and is undoubtedly the organization\u2019s best QB option from a short-term perspective.<\/p>\n
That said, Pittsburgh must be prepared to promote one of the current signal-callers (Drew Allar, Will Howard, or Mason Rudolph) if Rodgers elects not to commit to the Steelers for another season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
