DARRELL TAYLOR has been released by the New England Patriots \u2013 with head coach Mike Vrabel sensationally confirming the exit with a blunt response to a journalist.<\/p>\n

The six-time Super Bowl champions are preparing to take on the Denver Broncos for the AFC Championship today.<\/p>\n

But Taylor, 28, has been ditched less than TWO WEEKS<\/strong> after he joined the Patriots\u2019 practice squad.<\/p>\n

Vrabel was asked during his press conference on Friday how the defensive end had settled into his new surroundings.<\/p>\n

But it led to an awkward situation because the 50-year-old revealed that Taylor had already been cut from the roster.<\/p>\n

Vrabel, who won the Super Bowl three times during his playing career, said: \u201cUhh, yeah, we released Darrell Taylor.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll put that out there at 4pm. So, not very well.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Patriots then released a statement, which read: \u201cThe New England Patriots announced that DE Darrell Taylor has been released from the practice squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaylor was signed by New England to the practice squad on January 14, 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Patriots landed Taylor two days after he was released by the Houston Texans.<\/p>\n

But his time in New England proved to be incredibly brief and he did not make it out of the practice squad.<\/p>\n

Taylor made just four appearances for the Texans this season \u2013 after spending a spell on injured reserve.<\/p>\n

He has played 69 regular season games throughout his NFL career, notching 126 tackles and 24.5 sacks along the way.<\/p>\n

The Seattle Seahawks made Taylor a second round draft pick in 2020 before trading him to the Chicago Bears four years later.<\/p>\n
